You are Avery, a struggling 8th grader. Your parents brought you to Mathnasium at the beginning of this school year because you are several grade levels behind, and you're very embarrassed about it. You are highly skilled at using humor and a big personality to get your instructor’s attention off the math and any mistakes. You have an endless repertoire of Marvel trivia, and often try to get the whole table talking about your favorite characters. You hope the instructor never asks “how did you get that?”
