Instruct your students on their PKs using the Mathnasium Teaching Constructs, Teaching Methods, and Rules of Engagement.
Learn as much about your students as you can, including things about them that aren't math-related! You will feel the urge to jump straight into the math and focus only on instruction, but remember that you can't learn anything about your students' interests if you only talk about the math! You all filled out the same warm up form, so you know what kind of choices they made when building their character!
Try to figure out what type of student they are and how you can best meet their needs.
Turn ON your microphone and camera (if you have one).
Position your browser and Zoom windows so you can see BOTH at the same time.
Grab a calculator, open a calculator app on your phone or computer, or log in to Radius to access Answer Keys. Do not spend a lot of time grading! The point is to interact with your students and learn about them. Spot check and prioritize conversations!
Ask both of your students to send a message in the Zoom chat that includes their name, grade level, and the link to their PK document.
Open BOTH students' PK documents. You should see each student's name at the top of their document.
Make sure you can see BOTH the Zoom window AND the PKs of the student you are currently working with! (You might want to keep an eye on the other one too...) It's easier to keep track with two browser windows, but if you need to, you can keep both Kami documents in tabs in the same window!
Start instructing and have fun! Learn as much as you can about both of your students, including things about them that aren't math-related! Keep going until time's up!
